Darren Smith

Darren Smith is a singer/songwriter living in the Central West NSW town of Orange. His distinctive acoustic country/rock sound pays tribute to his musical influences, including Keith Urban, John Mayer, and U2. Darren seamlessly merges these styles into heartfelt lyrics, catchy hook lines, and unique guitar stylings within his original material.

Situated in an area renowned for its cellar doors and vibrant food scene, Darren’s acoustic live performances are a perfect match for the laid-back, country vibe of his hometown. Like a fine bottle of cool-climate vintage red, Darren has matured into a complex musical blend whose music is as easy to enjoy as that glass of wine on a cold winter’s night.

As a senior paramedic, Darren has reflected on the importance of mental wellness and the significant role music plays in his life. With renewed confidence and a positive message, he has returned to his musical roots and stepped back into the live scene. Armed with an extensive catalog of self-penned songs, Darren conveys powerful lessons of life, love, and loss through his sensitive and thoughtful lyrics.

Darren has quickly established himself as a talented live performer in and around the Central West. He can often be found on stage at local venues. He has also ventures to various venues across the region including Cowra, Mudgee, Canberra, and Dubbo.

An active member of the local JAM Orange (Just Add Music) organization, Darren promotes live, local talent within the Orange area. He also collaborates closely with SOMAD (Songwriters & Original Musicians Dubbo), supporting their efforts to expand the original music scene in the Central West.

Darren is equally comfortable performing at festivals, with appearances at Inland Sea of Sound in Bathurst and the inaugural Under Western Skies Festival in Dubbo. He is regularly seen at the Tamworth Music Festival, along with other major festival appearances.

In November 2018, he released a five-track EP, “Dive Into You,” featuring songs written while traveling along Australia’s west coast. The title track takes listeners instantly to the beach where it was penned.

His 2021 full-length album, "Brave," features the heartfelt single of the same name, a beautiful dedication to his daughter.
